BOOK EDITING SERVICES
DEVELOPMENTAL EDIT
A developmental edit looks at the big picture of your manuscript. An EFC editor will review the overall structure, organization, tone, and pacing.
Fiction: An EFC editor will provide feedback about the plot, character development, world-building, pacing, continuity, point of view, and dialogue. Your editor will work with you to further develop and flesh out the story.
Nonfiction: An EFC editor will provide feedback about the message, consistency of arguments, clarity of ideas, and flow of the writing. Your editor may suggest places where additional content is needed or where research would strengthen your arguments.
Fee: $40 per hour
SUBSTANTIVE/LINE EDIT
An EFC editor will work to improve the quality of your prose, the flow of your ideas, and the pace of your writing. Your editor will revise phrasing, tense, point of view, and sentence structure. Citation formatting is included for nonfiction manuscripts.
Fee for fiction: $0.03 per word
Fee for nonfiction: $0.04 per word
COPYEDITING
An EFC editor will look for typographical and grammatical errors, including but not limited to punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and missing words. Your editor will identify and correct common word usage errors (e.g., there, their, they’re). This level of service also addresses sentence structure and continuity. Nonfiction editing includes citation formatting.
Fee for fiction: $0.02 per word
Fee for nonfiction: $0.03 per word
COVER COPY WRITING
An EFC editor will read your book and either write the cover copy for you or assist you with rewriting copy you have already written. This service includes up to five rewrites with back-and-forth communication to make your cover copy the best it can be.
Fee: $100

- EFC uses MS Word to determine the word count for billing purposes.
- EFC currently accepts payment via PayPal and will send you an invoice via PayPal for services when your request has been accepted. Work will begin once payment has been received.
- For proofreading and copyediting options, EFC utilizes the “track changes” feature on MS Word. EFC will return your manuscript with any changes “tracked,” and you may choose to accept or decline these changes on an individual basis.
- EFC will not share your work or personal information with anyone and will maintain your privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- EFC will not forward your book to an agent or publisher.
