COPYEDITING

~ For writers whose books are in the early stages of production

An EFC editor will look for typographical and grammatical errors, including but not limited to punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and missing words. Your assigned editor will identify and correct common word usage errors (e.g., there, their, they’re). This level of service also addresses sentence structure and continuity.

Fee for fiction: $0.01 per word
Fee for nonfiction: $0.02 per word
minimum charge: $25

Approximate turnaround time: 2-3 weeks

PROOFREADING

~ For writers whose books are ready to be published

An EFC editor will look for typos, grammatical errors, and other obvious errors. Readability will not be addressed.

Fee for fiction: $0.008 per word
Fee for nonfiction: $0.01 per word
minimum charge: $25

Approximate turnaround time: 1-2 weeks

Expedited turnaround:

  • 3 business days or less for fiction
  • 5 business days or less for nonfiction

Fee: an additional 25% of the total charge

DEVELOPMENTAL EDIT

~ For writers seeking unbiased constructive criticism on a work-in-progress

An EFC editor will read your manuscript and give detailed feedback about the plot, character development, organization, pacing, continuity, and dialogue. Your editor will outline the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript and work with you to further develop and flesh out the story.

Fee: $0.02 per word

Approximate turnaround time: 2-3 weeks

MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUE 

~ For writers seeking unbiased constructive criticism on a completed manuscript

An EFC editor will read your manuscript and give feedback about the plot, organization, and character development. Your editor will also address the readability of your manuscript.

Fee: $0.01 per word

Approximate turnaround time: 2-3 weeks

Expedited turnaround: 5 business days or less
Fee: an additional 25% of the total charge

BOOK BLURB WRITING

An EFC editor will read your book and either write a blurb for you or assist you with rewriting a blurb you have already written. This service includes up to five rewrites with back-and-forth communication to make your blurb the best it can be.

Fee options:

  • $50 for a full write
  • $35 for a rewrite
  • $25 if purchased with another editing service

Approximate turnaround time: 1-2 weeks

Expedited turnaround: 5 business days or less
Fee: an additional 25% of the total charge

Additional Information

  • EFC uses MS Word to determine the word count for billing purposes.
  • EFC currently accepts payment via PayPal and will send you an invoice via PayPal for services when your request has been accepted. Work will begin once payment has been received.
  • For proofreading and copyediting options, EFC utilizes the “track changes” feature on MS Word. EFC will return your manuscript with any changes “tracked,” and you may choose to accept or decline these changes on an individual basis.
  • EFC will not share your work or personal information with anyone and will maintain your privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • EFC will not forward your book to an agent or publisher.
